Now Open: The World

April was a big month for My Little Swans—we moved to an open model, making the site available to a larger community of luxury travelers. Now all the benefits of membership are yours free of charge—complete itineraries and details for more than 30 destinations, a trusted network of global travel partners, and the shared experiences of your fellow members. Plus we’re now accessible via iPhone and iPad, so you can tap into our services wherever you go.

I wish all of our new members a very warm welcome. Please dive right in, tell us about your travels, and start planning your next global adventure. I also want to thank our founding members for their invaluable input over the past year—without you, My Little Swans would not be the premier travel resource we are today.

Photo Contest Winners

After much deliberation, we have chosen the winners of our first Photo Contest. The winning images are:

  • “Umbrellas” by Tom Jow
  • “River Boats” by Mark McCauley
  • “Halong Bay” by Tom Jow
  • “Balinese Fisherwoman” by Marianne Thomas
  • “Hummingbirds” by Kristie Walker

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to everyone who took part. We loved seeing all those amazing photos, and we want you to keep on sharing them—so we’re making our photo contest a monthly event.

Send your favorite travel photo along with its title and location to photos@mylittleswans.com. Each month we’ll choose our favorites from among the submissions. For more information, and to see the winning images from the March 2010 contest, visit the My Little Swans Monthly Photo Contest page.

Summer Programs Everyone Will Love

Now is the time to look into summer programs for your kids. For the past few years, academic summer programs have been the perfect solution for my family. They’re a win-win—our kids learn, grow, make friends and have a great time, while my husband and I are free to do some traveling on our own. Then, we follow it up with a great family vacation somewhere. Take a look at my most recent editorial for more details about our favorite programs.

New Partners

We’ve added two new partners to our global network. Great Alaska has over 30 years of experience creating one-of-a-kind adventures in the spectacular northern wilderness. Their wide menu includes sport fishing, wildlife viewing, glacier cruises, kayaking, hiking, whitewater rafting—whatever your perfect Alaska trip entails, they can make it happen. My family and I will be traveling with them from June 19-30, staying in their luxurious riverfront fishing lodge. I can’t wait!

Our other new partner is Blue Parallel, specialists in private, custom-designed escapes throughout Latin America. From the Galapagos to Patagonia to Machu Picchu, they provide unique and authentic experiences, whether you’re interested in culture, nature, adventure or a mix of all three. On my family’s 2007 trip to Argentina, Blue Parallel handled our excursion to Iguazu Falls, and it was simply incredible—we zip-lined through the rainforest, rappelled down a 100-foot waterfall, and took a private boat right up to the falls themselves. I can’t recommend this partner highly enough.

Warm Regards,
Katrina Garnett
