Days 1-2
Osa Peninsula

Arrival at San José International Airport. You will be greeted by your personal host who will accompany you throughout your journey and taken to board your private plane to Puerto Jiménez. Once you arrive you will be taken by private vehicle to the Lapa Ríos lodge nestled in the rainforest on the Osa Peninsula. Your personal host and guide will be present throughout the entire week’s itinerary to enhance your experience and to deepen your knowledge of all of your destinations.

On your first day your guide will take you on a hike through the peninsula’s virgin rainforest. You will trek across the trails, streams, and even climb until you finally reach the waterfalls hidden deep within the forest. On the following day you will go by boat to explore the marine life. As the boat heads out to the Gulf, go snorkeling in the emerald green waters to take advantage of the opportunity to see the fish, dolphins, and even whales. Then you will head up the River Esquinas as you watch the wildlife and vegetation change. The chance to see crocodiles and birds on this river journey is not to be missed. Later, experience the Osa trails which give you the best opportunity to see the rarest animal species the Costa Rican rainforest has to offer. Once the sun goes down, your guide will take you for a walk to discover the rainforest after dark and its many creatures.

Your activities on the Osa are a comprehensive discovery of this region’s biodiversity: marine and terrestrial, diurnal and nocturnal. Costa Rica’s praiseworthy directive of preserving 25% of its sovereign territory against environmental degradation has made this country a gem of biodiversity, and the Osa Peninsula is your place to dive into it. When you’re not hitting the trails, streams, and rivers of the region, recuperate your energy as you relax by the pool of Lapa Ríos’s oasis.

Days 3-4
Arenal

Private transfer to the airport to board your private plane to Arenal. Upon arrival you will be taken directly to the Springs Hotel & Spa. The entire property is built on natural hot springs at varying temperatures. Once you’re settled, you will explore the rainforest on with a choice from a multitude of activities, according to your interests. Your guide can either take you through the network of hanging bridges, or go higher as you zip-line across the rainforest canopy.

The following morning, proceed by horseback through the forest pastures and enjoy the landscapes. Continue on foot as you hike to the La Fortuna Waterfall, 70 meters high and with a natural pool of fresh, cooling water. Later, continue to hike up the Chato Volcano, with the opportunity to swim in the green waters of the crater lake at its summit. A picnic lunch will later be provided at a vantage point with a panoramic view of the forested valley and surrounding jungle.

Days 5-6
Papagayo Peninsula
