Shakti Himalaya was founded in 2004 by Jamshyd Sethna, one of India’s leading travel professionals, when he realized there were no options for sophisticated travelers who wanted a simpler, more authentic experience, off the beaten path and closer to India’s landscape and cultures. Drawing on his 20 years in the luxury travel business, he developed the first Shakti Village Walk in the Kumaoni foothills of the western Himalaya. Other village walks and properties followed, and now we offer a broad portfolio of options, including traditional village houses, private tented camps, an exclusive mountain lodge, and a range of activities that let you challenge and immerse yourself at whatever level you choose.
Shakti was designed to provide privileged access to remote places, blending an honest and sustainable approach with sophisticated simplicity and style. Instead of opulent surroundings, luxury here means thoughtful attention to detail – the hot water bottle in your bed at night, the tea brought to your bedside in the morning, the full picnic breakfast laid out at the summit of your walk.
